GEMS Student Opportunity

The GEMS 2026 student application will open in Spring 2026.

GEMS is offered at no cost to elementary, junior high, or high school students who are current 3rd-10th graders (rising 4th-11th graders). Students who complete each day of the in-person program earn an educational stipend. Students complete one session of GEMS per summer.

MODULE	DESCRIPTION	ELIGIBILITY
Planetary GEMS	Investigation of geology, oceanography, and meteorology.	4th-5th graders
Neuroscience GEMS	Investigate the anatomy, function, and development of the central system and the brain.	6th-7th graders
Biochemistry GEMS	Exploration of chemical processes and reactions occurring in living things and experimentation in chemistry and biology.	8th-9th graders
Agriscience GEMS	Examination of the application of science to agriculture and develop an understanding of human relations, communication, and the importance of agriculture to the economy.	10th-11th graders
