GEMS Student Opportunity
The GEMS 2026 student application will open in Spring 2026.
For questions about GEMS, please email usarmy-usaarl-stem@health.mil.
GEMS is offered at no cost to elementary, junior high, or high school students who are current 3rd-10th graders (rising 4th-11th graders). Students who complete each day of the in-person program earn an educational stipend. Students complete one session of GEMS per summer.

Investigation of geology, oceanography, and meteorology. |
4th-5th graders |
| Neuroscience GEMS |
Investigate the anatomy, function, and development of the central system and the brain. |
6th-7th graders |
Biochemistry GEMS |
Exploration of chemical processes and reactions occurring in living things and experimentation in chemistry and biology. |
8th-9th graders |
| Agriscience GEMS |
Examination of the application of science to agriculture and develop an understanding of human relations, communication, and the importance of agriculture to the economy. |
10th-11th graders |
